Boxes
Making a box can be quite easy. One of the easiest ways to make a box is using a skid. They look like this...

Anyways, the way to make a box out of these are:
Cut them 2 or 3 "sticks" wide
Screw on melamine or use liquid nails (a sticky glue, liquidnails.com)
You can make your box however long you want it by following these steps again then screwing it onto the end of your existing box.

If you would like to make a box like this...
Then just look at the picture and try to make it. It's easier then it looks. You can make your box to whatever dimensions you want. But I recommend 4-8 ft long, 12 inches wide, and for height i would say 7 or 8 inches because you can do flatland or you can put snow under it to make it higher for a "setup".
Attach melamine using screws or use liquid nails (liquidnails.com)
If you dont know what melamine is, it looks like wood painted white. It is very cheap, and you probably have shelves made out of it.

Rails
The easiest way to make a rail is to use PVC pipe or ABS pipe. There are a lot of other ways to make a rail but using PVC or ABS are the easiest.
Here are some plans, They are kind of complicated, but you can figure it out.
